I have fallen and fallen hard. She is a vocalist, rapper, fierce protector, vixen, motivator, and sweet friend all in one. Did I mention she looks fantastic doing it? At one point, I forgot that I was at a multi-artist festival. I felt like I had come for her, it seemed like her concert. When people say ‘owned a stage' they need to come up with a new name for Jessi. When she strolled on stage everybody sat up, they jumped up in fact - she seemed like the draw for most.

I am not playing around, I got the crown, Jessi (cold blooded)
There are many aspects of her performance we could dissect. I could talk about how she shifted from power sultry vocals to raspy rap frequently and simply. Or I could talk about how she teased the fans with hot poses and then cooled the temperature with her smile and giggles. I could talk about how she was the most genuine person I have seen on stage, she remembered fans from previous shows, spoke deliberately to them, took gifts, took photos, and made time to make sure the audience was safe. It felt as if her performance was an opportunity for her to make new friends. I could even talk about her inspiring messages of never giving up on your dreams no matter if you have tried for decades like her.
NO, we need to talk about how she called out arrogance. Like I said that’s one of the things I don’t like about hip hop and Jessi made it clear that’s not ok.

Dok2 performed before her ‘saying I don’t care who came before or who’s coming after me, I am the best rapper’ given that PH-1 had just delivered flows that were soothing to the soul - that statement didn’t add up. She asked sweetly - did he just says he’s the best rapper? I strongly disagree. I had to hold myself back backstage. . . it doesn’t matter if you rap fast." Shots were indeed fired. She circled back to him 4 times, elegantly cutting him down. Seeing someone stand up for her beliefs was so attractive. When the first bra of the day was thrown on the stage she picked it, chatted with the gifter, and said "how lovely you have written every artist's name on here - that’s what’s important DOKii."
That strength and defiance continued. She was told before not to swear on stage which made us all laugh every time she forgot and berated herself. But when a member of staff came on stage twice to tell her to stop swearing or to take a picture. She had no filter and told us the conversation straight away but also overran her time completely. The audience in General Admission seemed to be getting tired but I'd rather have some moments of boredom knowing I'm not involved to see an artist take a genuine interest in the audience than feel like I'm just a pawn in their empire.
